Training Opportunities to Build Vaccine Confidence
Whether you are a community member, health worker, educator, researcher, or provider—there are many opportunities to learn more about vaccines and build vaccine confidence. Below you will find a list of opportunities, many for free and some that include credit, for a variety of different audiences. These are not necessarily webinars or trainings offered by MVCP; many are from our partners or allies.
Vaccination Community Navigator Training
Created by and for Community Health Workers, by Vaccinate Your Family, a national leader in vaccine promotion to prevent disease. The self-paced online training includes 4 modules. It is available in English and Spanish and continuing education units (CEUs) for P/CHWs are available for free. Topics include Past, Present, and Future of Vaccination, Nuts and Bolts of Vaccines, Addressing Social Determinants of Health, and Dubunking Misinformation.
Community of Practice
Also created Vaccinate Your Family, this online support meeting series provides opportunities to stay connected with others who are working on vaccine confidence in their community as Community Health Workers. Although intended as a follow up support system after completing the Vaccination Community Navigator Training, anyone is welcome to join the Community of Practice Sessions.
Boost Oregon
Boost Oregon’s mission is to empower people to make science-based vaccine decisions for themselves, their families, and the community. Their approach is modeled on the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI) – an evidence-based approach strategy that guides behavior change instead of relying solely on attempting to persuade and convince and they offer many trainings for a variety of audiences.
Introduction to HPV Vaccination and Motivational Interviewing for Dentists
By the end of this one-hour course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to play a pivotal role in the prevention, early detection, and patient education regarding head and neck cancers and HPV, and will be able to utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to effectively address vaccine hesitancy. The motivational interviewing session is lead by Boost Oregon.
Motivational Interviewing for Vaccine Hesitancy: A training Modeule for Health Care Providers
This four-part online video series created by the North Dakota State University Center for Immunization Research and Education aims to help clinicians improve their conversations with vaccine-hesitant patients. Viewers will be introduced to several communication strategies rooted in motivational interviewing (MI).This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ through the Minnesota Medical Association and for 1 contact hour of continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit through CEimpact.
Pediatric Vaccine Conversations: Addressing Common Concerns
This webinar reviews the frequently asked questions and misconceptions healthcare providers encounter regarding childhood vaccinations. Vaccines, Autism, and Neurodiversity
This webinar recording summarizes the origins of rising anti-vaccine sentiments and its recent shifts, and improves awareness on how to counter anti-vaccine activity. Participants will increase their understanding of Autism and disparities experienced by Autistic people, as well as strategies to support someone with Autism during a healthcare appointment, many of which improve the vaccination experience for all patients.
